    Market-leading component supplier Elesa are delighted to offer the broad range of their RE series castors and wheels in a variety of materials specifically oriented toward dealing with industrial surfaces, loads, operational requirements and environmental demands such as chemicals and temperatures.
     
    This large and diverse range of castors and wheels meet the challenges of applications from trolleys to stillages, mobile equipment to transit cases.
     
    Elesa explain that the strength of their RE product offer lies in the combination of the manufacturing and materials of the different components. This is exemplified in their vulcanized/injected rubber wheels, moulded-on or injected polyurethane wheels with combination or monolithic wheels. Tough wheels match with robust swivel or fixed brackets in steel or stainless steel using plain or roller bearing axle sets.
     
    This ability to combine materials, components and designs within a single series allows Elesa to offer specifications to suit loadings and surfaces up to 750kg on tiles, asphalt, concrete, metal mesh and even chippings.

    Elesa levelling feet match industrial applications and aggressive environments

    Elesa, as market leading manufacturers in high quality levelling feet, are delighted to offer units for all industrial purposes from simple desks and workstations to vibration damping and non-slip for heavy machines, food industry and biohazard applications.
     
    At the light duty end of the spectrum the LX series are designed with adjustment moulded into the foot. They are suited to application on instrumentation housings, office desking, bench top equipment, portable stands and displays or similar.
     
    For more demanding situations some machine feet have a base with special shape or design that allows fixing to the ground. This solution is suitable when you need to give more stability to the equipment. This type of machine levelling feet are available with or without no-slip disk NBR rubber applied to the base which ensures a perfect anchoring, preventing separation even in case of shocks during transport or adhesion to the floor.
     
    LW.A vibration damping units from Elesa feature natural rubber damping pads built into an adjustable levelling foot design. They have been designed to damp vibrations, shocks and noise from moving components or non-balanced masses such as rotating machines. This vibration can cause significant detrimental effects on operator health as well as malfunctioning/reduction-in-lifespan of the machine or adjacent equipment.
     
    “Active” machine isolation is described as being for vibration producing equipment such as presses, machine tools, transfer equipment etc. to prevent vibration being transmitted away from the source. In addition, they are of value in a passive role when mounted on equipment that might be adversely affected by external vibration, such as quality testing, measuring or performance assessment equipment. This “bi-directional” isolation is an important feature of the LW.A levelling elements and is often a feature in the same location.
     
    The LMRS levelling feet from Elesa are manufactured in stainless steel (AISI 303/304) and designed to shed liquids downward. The low sulphur content of materials used in the LMRS and design features such as convex base with sleeved bolt are particularly significant to the food industry. For this reason, an adjustable sleeve covers the threaded stem, and other sharp edges and corners have been to a large extent avoided. This increases the efficiency of power cleaning measures in messy environments such as food processing, abattoirs and other hygiene sensitive applications.
     
    Elesa’s LM.F-HD-SST series of levelling feet in stainless steel with permanent floor mounting facility are now EHEDG certified (European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group). This means that they offer significant advantages in improved hygiene and reduced cleaning time (and resources). Thereby enhancing the environment of industrial areas such as in food production, pharmaceutical, paint and dye manufacture and similar, as well as saving on use of cleaning materials and time taken in wash-down cycles.
     
    For example, there can be up to 25% time saving with less consumption of water, energy and cleaning agents, by use of specific design criteria with high grade stainless steel and FDA/EU compliant plastics.
     
    Elesa explain that in the food industry, medical technology and the pharmaceutical industry, product safety and consumer protection are becoming increasingly important.     Over the last few decades, the evolution in engineering plastics and technopolymers has led to the availability of spur gears in plastic material featuring high mechanical strengths. In addition, these plastics offer resistance to corrosion and chemical agents, as well as high resistance to torsion and good tensile strength. They also provide significant noise reduction and a low friction coefficient, which allows the use of gears even in sectors where lubrication is not recommended or is even prohibited.

    Aquaflame Systems provide solutions for micro soldering and acrylic flame polishing through a range of products. The Aquaflame range are high performance gas-generating units, producing a high temperature flame – in the range 1200-3300°C.
     
    Employed extensively in the jewellery, dental and other technical manufacturing industries, the Aquaflame range provides solutions for individual traders and small retailers through to larger manufacturers.
     
    As a side issue to current Brexit concerns, and as an integral part of recent production re-structuring, the team at Aquaflame found they had supply problems with simple carry handles needed for their equipment, which can weigh up to 30kg. At the same time, they identified case alignment problems associated with handle fitment in conflict with the internal assembly – identified as taking an extra 15 minutes per unit.
     
    Explained MD Barry Peck “We found assembly and supply problems traced back to a simple handle and could not resolve these to our satisfaction so we looked around for a UK based company with a standard ex-stock product at a competitive price. Fortunately, we found Elesa whose sales engineer called round quickly and offered a simple low-cost solution to our handle problems, which saved us money on each machine.”
     
    The Elesa EPR-PF is a robust clip-in handle in glass reinforced polyamide which Aquaflame can leave to the final stage of assembly prior to packaging.     The Elesa ELEROLL package of rollers and ball transfer modules is designed to greatly simplify installation and use of this type of widely used conveyor system. The modular ELEROLL roller conveyors allow easy and quick joining of units to create loading and unloading areas in the construction of machines, storage and retrieval systems or packaging machines. The main components of the roller conveyors are constituted by sliding elements, which are either rollers or balls, for bi-directional or multi-directional (omni-directional) movement of heavy parts, packages or sheet materials.
     
    Elesa’s worldwide supply chain of high-quality industrial components is typified by the ingenious design of the ELEROLL modules.
     
    The roller elements, suitably fixed inside the RLT-AL aluminium profiles, create modular roller tracks for passive handling (both as sliding or containing surfaces), suitable for several applications in different fields: feeding and discharging benches in construction machinery, storage and picking systems, packaging machinery, etc.
     
    RLT-U-PA roller elements are also suitable for handling heavy packages, RLT-U-TPU roller elements, with rollers in anti-scratch material, allow the handling of delicate materials such as glass and wood.
     
    The low friction coefficient between the roller and the roller holder eliminates the need for lubrication maintenance – while the particular section of RLT-AL profile, allows the snap-in assembly of the roller elements into the profile without the need for screws or other fasteners. Therefore, the roller elements may be quickly and easily removed and replaced, without disassembling the entire roller track.
     
    The roller elements may be divided between individual wheels, so as to create roller tracks of precisely the required length.

    The Elesa range of heavy duty manual latch and toggle clamps in the MTP and MPB series are supplemented with their PPC pneumatic drive units for push-button or automated operation. A particular feature of Elesa heavy duty clamps is their in-built adaptability to suit work-holding, jig closure etc. by virtue of their adjustment and/or weldability for integration into workstation equipment. An aspect greatly facilitated by their ease of disassembly/rebuild which speeds both installation and maintenance so saving money while providing a high quality production solution.
     
    The MTP/MTP-D are hook-style quick-release clamps in steel, offering a linear or right-angled pull from 12,000 to 40,000N closing force, while the MPB vertical toggle clamps provide closure force from 10,000 to 30,000N.
     
    Where manual operation is too slow or perhaps multiple repetitive operations are to be avoided, then the PPC pneumatic clamp is an obvious solution providing up to 20,000N.

    The extensive Elesa range of standard machine elements is designed around the needs of manufacturing in all industry sectors, many of which will be on display at the 2019 Southern Manufacturing Exhibition. This takes place on 5th – 7th February at FIVE, Farnborough.
     
    Featured on the Elesa stand no. F250 will be their new ZCR and ZCL modular gear racks and spur gears which provide an easy to install package of quiet, lightweight, lubrication free and soft feel rack and pinion gear drives for adjustment of equipment or positioning of workpieces. Typically, they are suitable for assembly equipment, production workstations, instrumentation, inspection systems or other situations where quick linear movement is required.
     
    These are readily paired with Elesa’s IP65-7 direct dial digital position indicators with electronic mechanism for easy set up and readout coupled with the Elesa wireless spindle positioning system. This enables faster and more reliable machine set up by use of a wireless connected profile controller, which displays the initial set up values on each of up to 36 electronic position indicators. The operator can simply choose the appropriate menu then quickly re-set each spindle to its correct start position and the machine is “good to go”. This saves time and takes out much of the possibility of human error.
     
    A wide range of levelling feet complement the needs of equipment manufacturers, many in stainless steel for heavy duty application and special designs with vibration damping pads to prolong equipment life or for use in bio-hazard areas such as food processing and other hygiene sensitive areas.
     
    The Elesa LMHD hygienic levelling feet (EHEDG certified) with mounting holes provide rugged adjustable equipment mounting and facilitate reduced cleaning work – which can be up to 25% of the production time. Thus leaving more time available for production, with less use of resources such as fresh water, energy and cleaning agents, also with less waste water to process, and so lower total costs.

    The Elesa wireless spindle positioning system enables faster and more reliable machine set up by use of a wireless connected profile controller, which displays the initial set up values on each of up to 36 electronic position indicators. The operator can simply choose the appropriate menu then quickly re-set each spindle to its correct start position and the machine is “good to go”. This saves time and takes out much of the possibility of human error.
     
    Elesa DD52R-E-RF position indicators are networked to the UC-RF control unit by radio connection thus enabling an easy and quick installation. Current and target positions are transmitted by RF to and from the control unit, facilitating rapid machine set up.
     
    The system consequently saves time during the format alignment process. Once the set up profile has been called up by the PLC, the control unit UC-RF transmits the target position to each DD52R-E-RF position indicator. The current/target position is displayed on the LCD of the DD52R-E-RF. The operator manually sets the position of the spindles following the arrow displayed on the LCD (clockwise/counter-clockwise rotation). Once all the spindles are correctly set, the UC-RF control unit communicates to the PLC of the machine that the setup has been completed - the system prevents the start of the machine until the set-up has been completed, for safety reasons and to prevent loss of production from incorrect settings.
     
    The UC-RF controller can network with up to 36 position indicators and is compatible with PLC Interfaces: RS232, RS485, Ethernet/IP, Profibus and Modbus. The DD52R-E-RF (IP67) position indicator 6 digit display mode can be selected by the operator.

    The team at TRAKRAP produce low waste transit wrapping systems for food and related products. As long-term customers of Elesa for a wide variety of equipment components, they use standard hinges and handles in their machine protection enclosures. So it was fortuitous that visiting an Elesa exhibition stand, one of the TRAKRAP engineers came across their ingenious CFSW combined hinge and electrical cut-off switch for just this situation.
     
    Alan Read – Head of Engineering at TRAKRAP – explained “we are constantly developing our machines – looking to ensure good cost-effective manufacture and especially to manage low maintenance costs – as our machine leasing programme incorporates a long-term maintenance plan.
